This study analyzed the relationship between female employees’ satisfaction with their job and their social characteristics.Data were obtained by a questionnaire that included two parts. The first part dealt with respondents’ social characteristics. The second part included the “Scale of Job Satisfaction” consisting of 25 statements designed according to Likert Scale with five response categories. Statements were equally distributed among five components of the internal job environment.
A systematic random sample of 25% was derived from the community of the study. Hence, the sample of the study included 285 female employees working on production lines in three Jordanian pharmaceutical factories. Many statistical techniques were used, including descriptive statistics to characterize the sample, one-way ANOVA analysis, and Cornobach’s Alpha.
Findings showed that there were differences in respondents’ satisfaction with their job, in general, by each of their characteristics related to age, educational level, marital status, length of time of working experience, and monthly salary. It was also concluded that respondents were most satisfied with the physical component and least satisfied with the motivation component. Moreover, employees’ satisfaction with the overall scale of satisfaction (all five components) was 3.32. This obtained mean value was slightly higher than the mean value of the Scale of Job Satisfaction; 3.0. Upon findings of the study, some recommendations were presented to improve the level of job satisfaction among employees.
KEY WORDS: Job satisfaction, pharmaceutical industry, female employees. ,حوليات آداب عين شمس/
