Abstract

This study presents the performance based design method in the seismic analysis of structures, the studied system is reinforced concrete shear walls system, and the used analysis method is the non-linear static pushover analysis method. Verification study has been carried out on the pushover analysis method using finite element software by comparing the results with the experimental walls.
Buildings of different heights, reinforcement ratios and subjected to different seismic zones were studied using Performance based design methods (Capacity spectrum method and displacement coefficient method) to compare their results. Also, these results were compared with force based method. Based on the results the following conclusions were obtained.
