Abstract Post-menopausal women are usually at increased risk of many health problems such as osteoporosis, cardiovascular and kidney diseases compared with pre-menopausal females or even with age-matched males. Also, high mortality rates were reported in young women undergoing bilateral ovariectomy. It was proposed that deficiency of ovarian hormones, especially estrogen may contribute to all these clinical manifestations. So, the aim of this study is to throw light on the effect of estrogen deficiency on the renal cortex of ovariectomized albino rats. Moreover, the effect of estrogen replacement will be investigated and compared with phytoestrogen administration. |
