Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of different seedbed preparation and irrigation intervals treatments on :1- Some soil physical properties such as bulk density and total porosity . 2- Root development and distribution, dry weight, yield and yield components of rice. 3- Water requirements for rice crop productivity. 4- Fuel consumption rate and required energy. 5- The cost analysis for rice crop productivity at different seedbed preparation and irrigation treatments. Two field experiments were conducted at Sakha Agricultural Research Statiou to achieve this work. In the first experiment rice ’ variety Giza 177 was used and rice variety Sakha 101 used at the second experiment. The main results of the present work are indicated as follows: Effect of seedbed preparation and irrigation n~ana~emenotn some soil physical properties : (I) Soil penetration resistance : The moldboard plough gave the highest reduction in values of soil resistance, while zero tillage ttreatment gave the highest values at the studied soil layers. The mean values of soil penetration resistance tends to decrease with increasing irrigation period but increased with increasing soil depth.
