Abstract
The present work aimed to study the histological and histochernical changes in rat’s kidneys (at different ages) under the effect of alloxan, lasix and cisplatin by using light microscope. The scanning electron microscope was also used to study the morphology of the different structures of the seen surface. Sixty albino rat’s embryos and sixty adult male albino rats were used in this study and classificed as follows: 1. A control group included fifteen normal full-term embryos and fifteen normal adult male rats for investigation of their kidneys. 2. An experimental group included forty five full term embryos and forty five adults for studying the effects of alloxan, lasix and cisplatin on the kidneys of these animals. One of the two kidneys of each animal was divided into many slices and put in 10% formalin, form01 saline and 1 % cobalt nitrate fixatives and stained by; Haematoxylin and Eosin, Mallory’s trichrome, PAS and Da Fano-Cajal stains to demonstrate the general structure, connective tissue, PAS +ve material and Golgi apparatus respectively.
