Abstract
Corn fe one sf the important cereal craps in the worldo Corn diseases are consldcred one of %he moat limiting factors for yield pr~ductkonX~n recent years, sorghum downy mildew caused by Peronosclerospore sorghi (Weston and Uppal) Show* was observed as a new disease affecting corn in El-Sheikh Govarnornte causing considerable loss i n the yield. The present work was conducted to throw lfght on this disease and its causal organfsm in Egyp-t. The inoculation techniques, fungal tx-analocatlon in the maize and sorghum Sudangrass grains and the effect of seed treatment to control seed-borne fungw were studied. This work alao inchded the effect of dates of planting on dh~ease incidence, the relationship between disease incidence md environmental conditions, and evaluation sf the susceptibdlity of soine new hybrids and varieties of corn and sorghm fomges.
