Abstract

There is still a debate about the necessity of patellar resurfacing, as a step in total knee replacement, in reducing the post-operative anterior knee pain and improving the functional outcome of the replaced knees. As some authors advocate patellar resurfacing as aroutine step in all cases, others don’t recommend patellar resurfacing and others recommend selective resurfacing. Patello-femoral complications are amongest the most frequent complications in knee arthroplasty. In this study we have attempted to find out the overall results of patellar resurfacing as aroutincstep in T.K.R. and evaluate that role, on light of patellar complications, and to analyse the different clinical & radiological relations to post-operative patellar pain. Among the studied group, Icmalc were the majority 70 and the majority of cases were between 60 - 80year old.
