Abstract

The aim of this study, is to compare the response to CHOP protocol versus MACOP-B protocol in treatment of intermediate and high grade non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Nineteen patients with pathologically proven non¬Hodgkin’s lymphomas, intermediate or high grade, who had not received previous chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy were inclUded in the study. The age ranged between 16 and 60 years. The male to female ratio was 2.2:1. Systemic (B) symptoms at the onset of disease was found in all patients studied. The nodal involvement was the main presentation in 73~6% of cases while extra-nodal involvement was presented in 26.4%. According to clinical staging, it was found that 73.6% of the patients were in stage III, 15.8% were in stage II and 10.5% were in stage IV. According to pathological grading, eighteen patients (94.7%) were of intermediate grade and one patient (5.3%) was of high grade. The commonest pathological types were the diffuse large and diffuse mixed types.
