Abstract

In this study, bovine tuberculosis, brucellosis and shipping fever were studied in period between April, 2004 to April, 2006 in Dakahlia Governorate. 27971 cattle and buffaloes were tested by using tuberculin test, while 38520 cattle and buffaloes were tested by using brucellin test according to data of veterinary authorities. Out of 27971 tested cattle and buffaloes, 25 were positive reactors for tuberculin test (24 cattle and one buffalo). Out of 25 positive reactors 10 animals were showed visible lesions. On the other hand, 39 animals were positive reactors for brucellin test(29 cattle and 10 buffaloes). Moreover, 2000 animal were examined for pneumonic pasteurellosis, 15 animals(13 cattle and 2 buffaloes) which showed dyspnea, fever and history for transportation in cold stress and visible lesion of pneumonic pasteurellosis. The tuberculin, brucellin positive reactors and shipping fever showed animals were slaughtered and subjected to post mortem examination. Our study culminated in the result that buffaloes have a natural resistance to be affected with tuberculosis, brucellosis and pasteurellosis. The incidence of tuberculosis increased by increasing the age in cattle. In brucellin positive reactors uterus, udder, spleen, supramammary lymph node and liver are the most affected organs in non pregnant cattle ,while in pregnant cattle, the pathological changes were detected in uterus and udder meanwhile, lungs are the most affected organs in brucellosis bovine fetii. Fibrinous pneumonia is a characteristic pathological change in the lungs of bovine animals with shipping fever disease.
