Abstract

This dissertation deals with evaluation the subsurface stratigraphic succession structural framework, reservoir characteristics and source rock potential for the Abu Roash ?C? & ?G? members and Bahariya and Kharita formations. This is to evaluate the petroleum system and hydrocarbon potentialities of the study area. To achieve this target, geological, geophysical and geochemical data for 14 wells were analyzed and interpreted. The elements and processes of the petroleum system were studied in the study area. The elements consist of the source rock, migration route, reservoir rock, seal rock and traps, while the processes include generation, maturation, migration and accumulation, and also the preservation of the hydrocarbon in the trap. The source rocks were evaluated by calculating the total organic carbon content (TOC wt %). The petrophysical parameters were identified which include the volume of shale, porosity, water saturation, hydrocarbon saturation, movable and residual saturations, reservoir and net pay thicknesses. The structural framework and the entrapment were studied based on the analyzing and interpretation of the 28 seismic lines. Through comprehensive analyses processes, the hydrocarbon potentialities of the study area are achieved based on integration of the lithological, petrophysical, fluid parameters, structural and modeling parameters.
