Abstract

Diarrhea is defined as the passage of one or more watery stool in 24 hours. One episode was separated from another by ≥ 3 diarrhea- free days. Acute diarrhea is defined as an episode lasting ≤ 14 days
Diarrheal diseases are a major health problem that particulary affects children under 5 years in developing countries. A number of bacterial, viral, and parasitic agents have been identified in patients with acute diarrhea. Entamoebahistolytica, Giardia lamblia, and cryptosporidium species are the common enteric protozoal parasites generally believed to be associated with diarrhea
Infectious diarrhea is the most common cause of diarrhea worldwide. Diarrheal disease is the leading cause of childhood death and the second most common cause of death worldwide.Diarrheal diseases are responsible, directly or indirectly, for approximately three million deaths each year among children younger than five years of age
The aim of the work is to study the effect of common enteric protozoa on the course of bacterial diarrhea in children.
