Education tourism for universities or colleges and schools represents formal learning and is referred to as “education first” on its model, while adult or senior education and education tourism tend to occur informally and according to which they are motivated more by leisure, rather than by a desire to Learning, hence ”tourism first”, and in the last parts, the elements of learning are integrated into the tourism product, while previously the purpose of travel was to learn. The definition of tourism tends to fall into two broad categories: technical and conceptual, The first type is usually employed by organizations that wish to determine the types of tourists and tourism activities in which they participate, For example, tourism and tourists are defined in terms of supply and demand for products and services used by visitors and tourists, In contrast, conceptual definitions often use a more anthropological perspective, and take into account the ”meaning or role of tourism for the tourist himself”, Definitions of educational tourism fall into both categories. Although there is no consensus on the nature of educational tourism, the terms “tourism” and “education” are appropriate “problematic companions”, Proponents usually agree that it involves traveling away from a person’s home whether the primary or secondary purpose is learning in a unique environment. Much of the literature attempts to define educational tourism from a technical perspective in terms of industry sectors or sectors that it includes or excludes, The growth in educational tourism is a product of the fragmentation of cultural tourism, and that educational tourism is a separate pattern from volunteer tourism, language tourism, and creative tourism, Educational tourism includes four sub-types of tourism: ecotourism, heritage tourism, rural/agricultural tourism and student exchange between educational institutions. When developing a model for educational tourism, a number of characteristics emerged that distinguish international educational tourism, and educational tourism in general, from other forms of tourism, It is better to describe educational tourism as a process rather than to define it according to any particular topic, As such, educational tourism can be integrated into any sector of tourism, Unlike many sectors of tourism, effective educational tourism may begin before reaching a destination, and continue after leaving the destination, This is due to the nature of the experiential learning process. Some educational tourist destinations do not rely on educational tourists for their existence, For example, exchange of learners and study abroad are two common forms of educational tourism, but the schools or universities that the learner or student tourists go to, do not derive most of their income from educational tourists, Many international university students pursue their studies entirely in another country but return to their home countries upon completion of their qualifications, Their behavior is characteristic of international educational tourists, but they spend more than a year at their study destination, For this reason, it is recommended to disregard the usual time parameter used in tourism studies of a maximum of one year away from home when discussing international educational tourism. There is an essential role for institutions of higher education in educational tourism, that “Educational trips are an interesting study site, first, because they are explicitly related to learning, and secondly because they provide an opportunity for universities to reach beyond their walls and directly educate members of the wider community.” Universities can play a pivotal role in teaching ethics outside the context of academic education by providing ethical education that complements professional skills, By applying blended strategies, such as hands-on and experiential learning at the local level, it is possible to increase the links between the university and the community. The problem under study can be identified in that: Although there are many reference literature and previous studies that discussed the subject of educational tourism, there is no clear definition of the concept of educational tourism and its role in activating incoming tourism, which led to: -Inability to determine the pattern of educational tourism in Egypt. -The lack of data available on the tourism activity of international students in Egypt.-Lack of familiarity with the procedures undertaken by universities in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism to market the educational tourism pattern in Egypt.-Not knowing the effectiveness of implementing those plans and procedures -Failure to identify the difficulties and obstacles that universities may face while marketing their programs abroad. The study aims to know the role of educational tourism in activating the movement of incoming tourism by applying to Mansoura University, and some objectives are branched from it:-Recognize the characteristics and importance of educational tourism. -Disclose the role of student unions and associations in strengthening educational tourism for international students. -Learn about student activities that can be practiced during educational tourism. -Revealing the benefits of paying attention to the educational tourism pattern. To achieve these goals, the study relied on the descriptive approach and the survey tool targeting a sample of international students at Mansoura University to know their views and perceptions on the subject of the study, and personal interviews with experts in the tourism and educational sectors and the university’s management of arrivals to determine the status of educational tourism in Egypt. The field study reached many results, the most important of which are: -The results of the study indicated the most prominent characteristics of educational tourism, In the first place, the desire for education, whether it represents the primary or secondary for the trip, by 23.2%, and in the second place, the plurality of the organizers of the circular tourism programs by 20.1%, and in the third arrangement, flexibility and the ability to change programs to match the age stages of tourists, And with all cultural and educational levels by 18.2%, and in the fourth rank, the love of knowledge and the desire for self-discovery and development by 15.45%, and in the fifth rank, interest in society, the environment and civilizations by 14.8%, and in the sixth rank, educational tourism is practiced in a simple and easy way, such as visiting tourist sites or in a more specialized manner by 8.4%.-The results of the study indicated the contribution of student unions and associations in strengthening the activities of trips and camps for international students, in the first rank somewhat, at a rate of 36.9%, in the second arrangement, yes, at a rate of 35.2%, and in the third rank, no, at a rate of 27.9%.-The results of the study indicated the most prominent activities that can be practiced during educational tourism, in the first rank are cultural activities by 21.8%, in the second rank are activities that contain adventure by 20.4%, and in the third rank are scientific activities by 14.8%, and in the fourth rank are sports activities by 14.2%, and in the fifth rank Health and environmental activities by 12.6%.-The results of the study indicated the benefits of educational tourism, In the first place, educational tourism is a tool for development in any region or country with a relative weight of 88.1%, and in the second place, the revitalization of the transportation and accommodation sector, and places of archaeological and recreational visits with a relative weight of 76.1%, and in the third order, the strengthening of the national economy because of its economic effects Direct and indirect with a relative weight of 75.5% and in the fourth rank generate income in universities and in the national economy with a relative weight of 72.3% and in the fifth rank attract new tourists who are relatives and friends of students who come to visit them with a relative weight of 72.1% and in the sixth rank stimulate economic activity in many services and other activities Associated with it, with a relative weight of 71.5%, and in the seventh rank, providing jobs for the unemployed, thus eliminating poverty and unemployment, with a relative weight of 69.3%, and in the eighth rank is an effective tool for enhancing social and economic capital. The study also concluded with many recommendations, the most prominent of which are the following: -The necessity of paying attention to the tourism industry because it is an important tributary of national income, with the development of all types of tourism, especially the educational one, given that Mansoura University is gaining a good Arab scientific reputation. -The potential of Mansoura University must be exploited in order to develop its efficiency more and more, promote its products, and attract students from other countries to it.-Spending on improving the situation of international students and giving them all the necessary facilities to ensure an enjoyable scientific tourism stay for them, listening to their requirements and ensuring their satisfaction.-The necessity of developing university performance, paying attention to the efficiency of the faculty, and coordinating the university with advanced western universities in order to create a competitive advantage on the quality level of university performance, which is an attractive factor for students from other countries.
