Abstract
MDD is one of the most commonly diagnosed mental disorders among adults. According to the World Health Organization, depression is a leading cause of global mental and physical disability, a major contributor to the global burden of disease. It is ranked as the third leading cause of disease burden in the world, and the leading cause of disability in middle- and highincome countries.
