Abstract
Carbon monoxide poisoning (the silent killer) remains a serious health problem and one of the major reasons for morbidity and mortality among inhaled poisons worldwide. The incidence of CO poisoning is reported to be higher in developing countries than developed countries. It induces tissue hypoxia by binding to hemoglobin 250 times greater than oxygen. Consequently, it decreases oxygen delivery to the tissue by shifting oxyhemoglobin dissociation curve to the left.
