Abstract

Abstract
Background: The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of infection control standard precautions, especially in healthcare settings. Nurses play a crucial role in implementing and ensuring adherence to these precautions to prevent the spread of the virus. Aim: to assess nurses’ performance regarding infection control standard precautions in family health centers during the pandemic. Design: A descriptive study designed was utilized to conduct the study. Setting: Family Health Centers at Beni-Suef City. Sample: convenient sample of 124 nurses. Results: three-quarters of the studied nurses were married, 70.2%, being in the 40-49 age range, 28.2%. Technical nursing institute 48.4% followed by a diploma 29%, and a bachelor’s degree in nursing 22.6%. Have more than ten years of experience, 54.8%. have attended courses regarding infection control, 33.9%. Nurses have a good understanding of infection control standards and COVID - 19 of some aspects, but there were gaps in other areas. Nurses perceived lower to moderate barriers. Experience years, attending training courses and education were statistically significant to nurses’ knowledge and practice. Conclusion: There were still some nurses with low knowledge and perceived barriers. Recommendations: continue providing accurate and up-to-date information about COVID-19 and Addressing barriers.
