The study aimed to activate the role of electronic democracy in the political education of Egyptian university students in light of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The focus was on electronic democracy as one of the most important manifestations of the technological revolution. To achieve this goal, the study went through a set of procedures, which consisted of preparing a theoretical framework that included defining the concept of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Its most important challenges, electronic democracy, its concept, characteristics, functions and mechanisms for practicing it in universities, political education for university students and the mechanisms for practicing it through electronic democracy.
The study used the descriptive approach, and the two study tools (interview and questionnaire) were applied to a sample of (900) students, university leaders, and (60) faculty members at the three Egyptian universities (Sohag, Ain Shams, and Ismailia).The study sample included some of the universities’ practical and theoretical faculties,The field study reached a set of results, including the impact of technological developments resulting from the Fourth Industrial Revolution on the political life of university students. There is also a need to activate the role of electronic democracy in the political education of Egyptian university student as it is important to confront the political challenges resulting from the industrial revolution Fourth.
In light of the results of the study, the researcher presented a proposed strategy to activate the role of electronic democracy in the political education of Egyptian university students. This strategy is represented in a set of strategic objectives, namely: the existence of a clear, unified vision announced by the Ministry of Higher Education for political education for university students through websites, and achieving communication and coordination. between university leaders and the Ministry of Higher Education for the benefit of political education with the aim of enhancing the role of electronic democracy in the political education of university students, spreading the culture of political education to university students through websites, providing the necessary technological infrastructure in universities and colleges, and achieving communication and coordination between university leaders and the Ministry of Higher Education to address Obstacles to enhance the role of electronic democracy in the political education of university students.
