Abstract

The Shoushan Basin is one of the most prolific basins in the northern part
of the Egyptian Western Desert. It attracts the attention of geologists and
geophysicists for oil and gas exploration. This is due to the presence of a huge subsurface sedimentary section which includes a considerable reservoir rocks, including the Jurassic Safa Member and the Lower Cretaceous AEB Formation
(the main target of this study Potential source rocks have been encountered
within the Jurassic formations and some units of the Lower Cretaceous AEB
Formation. The study area is located in the northern part of the Western Desert, and lies between latitudes 30° 40′ - 30° 47′ N and longitudes 26° 51′ – 27° 05′ E.The materials used in this study include complete log sets of five wells in the study area (TUT-21, TUT-23, TUT-55, Salam-3X and Salam-31). These sets
include the Gamma Ray, Caliper, Resistivity logs, Density, Neutron, and Sonic logs. This is in addition to, geochemical data of two wells (TUT-23 and Salam- 3X)and depth structure map showing the structures affecting the area of study. A thirty 2D seismic lines were also available for the study
