Abstract

Sustainable management of halophytes using biotechnology is currently promising and interesting research area that will play a key role in the development of new crops and maintain natural resources. Plant biotechnology supports sustainability in agriculture by increasing the production and reduces some environmental impact in agriculture (Álvarez et al., 2020). Sustainable agriculture must escape soil degradation, credible biodiversity protection and management of natural resources to achieve social and profitable safety Hans and Colaco, 2019).Research areas in plant biotechnology includes micropropagation, molecular marker technologies, genetic engineering, plant cell cultures, cell suspension, hairy roots, and adventitious roots for optimizing the production of active component (Ramirez-Estrada et al., 2016). Plant tissue culture is a significant bioengineering cultivation tool that supports crops production to manage the food availability, microfibers, power and to cope with fastgrowing population in developing countries (El-sherif, 2019). As well, the modern innovative biotechnology is „„omics‟‟ sciences (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics proteomics, metabolomics etc.) which facilitate the high throughput analysis of plant samples for the identification mechanisms and genes associated with stress tolerance Mosa et al., 2017; Gairola et al., 2018).
