Abstract Slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE) is one of the commonest hip disorders affecting young children. The incidence of SCFE is nearly 10.8 cases per 100,000 children. SCFE can be idiopathic or atypical. The etiology of SCFE is still unknown, but many risk factors have been discussed as causative etiology of SCFE. Patients may present with the following symptoms: Hip (groin) pain in most patients, Limp and inability to weight bears in acute slips. The following physical signs may be present: Trendelenburg sign and gait, externally rotated attitude of the affected lower limb, restriction of flexion, abduction, and internal rotation of the affected hip obligatory external rotation on flexion (This is a diagnostic clue). |
