This study focused on the role of public relations practitioners in the use of digital communication technology to achieve sustainable development goals in the higher education sector (a field study). This was applied to employees working in public relations in the Egyptian government universities and their colleges.This study is categorized as descriptive research, which aims to observe the current reality by delving into a specific phenomenon. It employed a survey method using a field sample to assess how public relations practitioners use digital communication technology and its role in achieving sustainable development goals in the higher education sector (a field study). It also utilized a descriptive correlational comparative method to examine the relationship between the use of digital communication technology by public relations practitioners in the higher education sector and their perception of achieving sustainable development goals in that sector. The study was conducted on 120 employees working in public relations in the higher education sector, including some Egyptian government universities and their colleges. These participants were purposively selected, and their ages ranged from 28 to 52 years. They were surveyed about their use of digital communication technology and their perceptions of achieving sustainable development goals in the higher education sector. (Prepared by the researcher). The study yielded several findings, including:1- Confirmed (70%) of whom working in public relations in government universities and their colleges used digital communication technology.2- WhatsApp is the most used digital communication technology tool by (30%) of public relations employees in government universities and their colleges, followed by interactive webpages at (20%), and then Facebook with a usage rate of (19.17%).3- (64.17%) of public relations practitioners in government universities and their colleges agree that one of the drawbacks of using digital communication technology is the knowledge gap between countries that own this technology and those that import it and (78.33%) of them also see integration of communication technology into a single system as one of its drawbacks.4- Confirmed (47.5%) of public relations employees working in government universities and their colleges believe that the employment of digital transformation technology provides a sufficient representation of the Sustainable Development Plan in light of Egypt’s Vision 2030.5- (68.33%) of public relations practitioners in government universities and their colleges emphasize that scientific issues are among the aspects of sustainable development that they are keen to present to the public. They present social issues at a rate of (51.67%), technology issues at (46.67%), environmental issues at (44.17%), economic issues at (40.83%), and political issues at the lowest rate of (25.83%).6- Confirmed (75.83%) of public relations practitioners in government universities and their colleges believe in including sustainable development in the future plans of universities and colleges.7- There is a positive correlation between the scores of public relations practitioners in the higher education sector regarding the use of digital communication technology (advantages of usage, attitude towards usage, usage in higher education sector, and extent of usage in university public relations management) and their perception of achieving sustainable development goals in the higher education sector, at a significance level of 0.01.8- There are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of male and female public relations practitioners in the higher education sector regarding the use of digital communication technology (advantages of usage, attitude towards usage, usage in higher education sector, and extent of usage in university public relations management), with males showing higher scores, at a significance level of 0.01.9- There are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of male and female public relations practitioners in the higher education sector regarding their perception of achieving sustainable development goals, with males showing higher scores.10- There are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of public relations practitioners in the higher education sector regarding the use of digital communication technology (advantages of usage, attitude towards usage, usage in higher education sector, and extent of usage in university public relations management) among different years of experience (10 years or more, less than 5 years, and 5 years to less than 10 years), with practitioners having 10 years or more of experience showing higher scores. There are also significant differences between the mean scores of practitioners with less than 5 years of experience and those with 5 years to less than 10 years of experience, with practitioners in the latter group showing higher scores.11-There are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of public relations practitioners in the higher education sector regarding their perception of achieving sustainable development goals among different years of experience (10 years or more, less than 5 years, and 5 years to less than 10 years), with practitioners having 10 years or more of experience showing higher scores. There are also significant differences between the mean scores of practitioners with less than 5 years of experience and those with 5 years to less than 10 years of experience, with practitioners in the latter group showing higher scores.
