Abstract

We have calculated the magnetic properties and magnetocaloric properties for Fe, Co and Ni using the mean field theory. The isothermal entropy change has been calculated using a Maxwell’s relation. The adiabatic temperature change for Fe, Co and Ni respectively, is 9, 8.6 and 2.8 K for a magnetic field change of 6T. The temperature and field dependences of the magnetization, magnetic entropy, magnetic specific heat, Arrott plots and universal curves showed that the phase transition in these three elements is of the second order.
We calculated the magnetothermal properties and MCE (△Sm and
△Tad), for GdFe3 system using the MFT. Magnetization calculation
showed that, system is ferrimagnetic compound. The compensation point of the system has been found to be near 600 K and the Curie temperature at 728 K. is calculated by Maxwell’s relation.
The highest ordinary MCE: and △ are 0.2 J/mol. K and 0.6 K for
a magnetic field change of 4T.
