Abstract This study was carried out through the year 20201/2022 in n Elharby street, Damietta city, Damietta governorat to develop and construct a machine for cutting rice straw, corn stalks and cotton stalks. The performance of the developed machine was experimentally measured under the following parameters: 1- Three different types of crop residues (rice straw, corn stalks, cotton stalks). 2- Three different moisture contents (wet base) per crop residues (20.13, 13.55, 6.76%), (30.87, 11.33, 8.22%) and (25.2, 10.63, 8.04%) for rice straw, corn stalks and cotton stalks, respectively. 3- Four different chopping knives speeds of (1200, 1500, 1900, 2200 rpm), rpm) and therefore be feeding drums speeds of (133, 170, 208, 240), respectively. The study recommends using the locally manufactured chopping machine to cut rice straw, corn and cotton stalks and get the highest productivity and efficiency with the least energy consumed with the lowest operating costs under the following conditions: 1- Chopping knives speed of 1900 rpm. 2- Feeding drums speed of 208 rpm. 3- Moisture contents are 6.76, 8.22, and 10.63% for rice straw, corn stalks, and cotton stalks, respectively. 4- Constant knife angle of 10 degrees. 5- Constant clearance between fixed and moving knives of 2 mm. Key words: (not more than ten) Cutting, rice straw, corn stalks, cotton stalks, wastes, farm residues. |
