The research sheds light on many parts related to Scandinavian furniture and its importance in order to identify the criteria interested by the Scandinavian furniture designers to contribute to the development of the furniture. The research is divided into two chapters:
• Part I: Part one: a historical study of the emergence of Scandinavian furniture design:
This part represents the historical reference for the research in studying how Scandinavian furniture originated and how it evolved to have its high rank in the global markets and what are the criteria that helped in the success of the Scandinavian style in furniture design, through explanation and analysis in two chapters:
1. Chapter 1: Emerging of Scandinavian Furniture Design.
2. Chapter 2: The criteria leading to the success of the Scandinavian style in furniture design.
• Part II An Analytical study of the criteria and dimensions of Scandinavian furniture design:
This chapter try to understand the features, standards and dimensions of furniture and its cognitive environment in general and then for Scandinavian furniture in particular. Through its cognitive limits, the concept of furniture and its basic dimensions (formal, functional, structural, spatial and aesthetic) which are characteristic of Scandinavian furniture are defined. Some models of Scandinavian furniture pieces that applied those standards and dimensions were presented, then analyzed and a questionnaire was submitted to solicit opinions about these models.
It consists of two chapters::
1. Chapter 1: Standards and Dimensions of Scandinavian Furniture Design.
2. Chapter 2: An analysis of some works of Scandinavian furniture pieces and the questionnaire.
