المستخلص

The study aimed at monitoring, analyzing, and describing methods of news treatment of political events in Sudan in the two Arabic-oriented satellite channels (Russia Today and BBC Arabic). This is achieved by making comparisons between the two channels to identify the features and trends of treatment, the extent of objectivity in dealing with these events, their actors, and the extent to which this treatment is related to the position of the broadcasting countries and the most prominent frameworks used in presenting them. The study employed both the survey approach and the comparative approach. In conducting the study, the researcher relied on a deliberate sample of bulletins in the two channels under study for a period of three continuous months from 1/1/2022 to 30/3/2022. The researcher applied the theory of news framing using the content analysis tool. The most important results reached by the Study are as follows: 1.The results confirmed the increase of the category of (Political News) in the two channels subject of the study by 39.1% out of the total analyzed sample, followed by the category of (Human News) by 19.7%. This refers to the nature of political events in Sudan where the conflict between political parties and the Sudanese authorities and between the Sudanese army and demonstrators is escalated.2.The news of political events in Sudan that has (more than one point of view) in the two channels (Russia Today and BBC Arabic) subject of study came up with 74% out of the total analyzed sample, followed by news that does not (include a point of view) by 16.8, then the category of news that has (one point of view). The results also confirmed the high percentage of news that has (more than one point of view) in the two channels of (Russia Today and BBC Arabic) by (75%, 73.3%), respectively.3.The results confirmed the high percentage of dependence of the two channels under study (Russia Today and BBC Arabic) on (security and military sources) as a source for political events news in Sudan in news bulletins by 15.4%, followed by (correspondent category) by 15.1%, then (opposition groups as a source for news by 10.5%).4.It is evident that there are statistically significant differences between the two channels in the reference frameworks used to present political events in Sudan, where the official political frameworks topped the reference frameworks used by the two channels under study to address political events in Sudan by (39.7%), followed by ideological frameworks by (34.6%), then legal frameworks by (8.8%), whereas the other reference frameworks received only small percentages, and the (Russia Today) channel used the official political frameworks by (40.9%) vs. (39.1%) for (BBC Arabic).5.The form of providing news of political events in Sudan on the two channels under study varied, as the results showed an increase in the proportion of news provided through (Bulletin reader + figured material) on the two channels under study by 38%, followed by the category of (Bulletin reader + News reports) by 24%, followed by the category of (Bulletin reader only) by 22.8%, and followed by the category of (Bulletin reader + letters of correspondents) by 13.2. The results also confirmed the high percentage of dependence on (Bulletin reader + figured material) on (Russia today) by 55%, while the percentage of dependence on (Bulletin reader + guest) on the two channels (Russia Today and BBC Arabic) decreased by (5%، 6.7%), respectively.6.The long news of political events in Sudan in the two channels under study (Russia Today and BBC Arabic) increased by 68%, followed by short news by 17.2%, then medium news by 14.8%. In addition, the results confirmed the high percentage of long news in both channels (Russia Today and BBC Arabic) by (50%, 80%) for both of them respectively.
