Abstract

During the last years, the industry of Roads pavement construction is speedily progressing in the whole world because of the severe increase in loads of traffic. The Classic pavement materials find a great difficulty to achieve the requirements of present as well as highway pavement construction in future. Therefore increasing quality, more reliability, more safety and more suitability for the environment are urgently needed. Modification of asphalt materials is an approach used to enhance asphalt pavement performance. Through the years, different kinds of additives have been experimented to adjust the asphalt mixture properties especially focusing on the enhancement of mechanical performance, decreasing the severity and amount of pavement distresses and increasing service life. Approximately 20% of industrial ceramic materials all over the world are considered as waste materials in landfills. Hence these waste materials are an important environmental concern. Recycling or reusing ceramic wastes for construction purposes is still challenging. In our study, we attempted to use inorganic Nano ceramic powder (NCP) was produced from ceramic wastes as an additive for bitumen and hot mix asphalt (HMA) .A detailed study explains the effects of these local wastes on bitumen to evaluate the modified properties of it and also on HMA mixes which have been made in this study. We evaluated the modified properties of the bitumen and also Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) incorporated with inorganic ”Nano ceramic powder (NCP) NCP samples were differentiated using x-ray diffraction. Rheological and Physical properties of these samples were also examined by dynamic shear rheometer tests, penetration, softening point, and MSCR tests. The HMA mixes have been prepared and different performance tests like Marshall Tests were conducted. In general evaluating the effects of using NCP as an additive on bitumen and hot mix asphalt properties is performed. from our present study we concluded that addition of NCP to HMA mixes improves the mixes properties like stability and flow also adding NCP to bitumen led us to improve Rheological properties, rutting resistance and fatigue cracking resistance of bitumen.
