Abstract

T
he COVID-19 pandemic has seen unprecedented restrictions on face-to-face antenatal care encounters throughout the world. One effect of this has been an exponential increase in the use of online antenatal care resources by pregnant women seeking non-urgent antenatal advice and support. So, accessing antenatal care information through social media platforms can be a useful, alternative option for pregnant women and could be effective in promoting maternal and fetal wellbeing during the pandemic (Li et al., 2020).
The present study aimed to assess the effect of accessing antenatal care information via social media platforms on maternal and fetal well-being during COVID19 pandemic.
A purposive sample was used and included 355 pregnant women.The study was conducted on line on social media platforms through facebook group.Data collection was carried out throughout the period from beginning of March 2022 to the end of August 2022.
It was done through three tools: the first was online questionnaire that was designed by the investigator. It included four parts, part one was included Socio-demographic characteristics as age, educational level, occupational status,place of residence and economical level.Part two was included obstetrical history as gravidity, parity, level of gestational age, previous pregnancy complication, mode of previous delivery and history of abortion.Part three was included knowledge assessment sheet to assess pregnant women knowledge about accessing antenatal care information via social media platforms.It include 19 question. Part four was included Barrier’s assessment, it included one open question about barriers facing the pregnant women toward accessing antenatal care information via social media platforms.The second tool was satisfaction Likert scale. It was adopted from Zedan et al. (2021) and modified by the investigator considered six items to assess pregnant women’s satisfaction regarding different channels of social media platforms used and content introduce through it, start from disagree Scored 1, undecided scored 2, agree scored 3.The third tool was Pregnancy follow up condition’s questionnaire.It was designed by the investigator and included questions related to effect of accessing antenatal care information via social media platforms on maternal and fetal well-being..It include 30 questions.

Results:
• The present study revealed majority of the studied pregnant women had satisfactory level of knowledge about antenatal care information during COVID19 Pandemic.
• Most of the studied pregnant women have many channels of social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Google, WhatsApp, and Telegram. In addition to, they satisfied with them.
• The majority of the studied pregnant women reported that accessing antenatal care information via social media platforms was effectively on maternal and fetal well-being
• There was statistically significant relation between total score of knowledge and total score of satisfaction and total score of effect of accessing antenatal care information via social media platforms on maternal and fetal well-being.
In conclusion, the study revealed that: accessing antenatal care information via social media platforms effectively support maternal and fetal well-being.
