Abstract

Nitric oxide is a chemical compound with chemical formula NO. Despite being a simple molecule, it is a fundamental component in the fields of neuroscience, physiology, and immunology. It is biosynthesized endogenously from L- arginine, oxygen and NADPH by various nitric oxide synthase (NOS) enzymes that oxidizes the guanidine group of L-arginine in a process that consumes five electrons and results in the formation of NO with stoichiometric formation of L-citrulline Fig (1) (Ignarro et al., 2001 and Lokhande et al., 2006).
