Abstract

The chance of discovering giant fields remarkably decreases, so mature
field development is an abroad subject, using cased hole logging tools is
nowadays mandatory to evaluate closed or near to closed well in each different
perforated reservoir /s interval / s. BED-1 field is one of the giant fields in the
Abu El Ghardig basin in the North Western Desert of Egypt, the field mostly
produce from Kharita reservoirs, and most of the wells were shut in or
produced with a high percentage of water cut from multi-perforated reservoirs
Kharita Formation has been interpreted as a stacked sequence of active
and partially abandoned channel fill deposits alternating with flood-plain
sediments and the same crevasse splays of the fluvial domain with frequent
minor marine influxes during stages of low fluvial energy, and its mainly six
sandstone reservoirs intercalated by shale layers.
The structure of the top Kharita formation appears in an extensional
regime with the main normal fault, that all of our wells lay on top of upthrown
side of the structure, also, it is a three-way dip trap with lateral juxtaposition
seal and above the cap with shales or carbonates of basal Bahariya formation.
from well-log correlation, we can divide the Kharita formation into six
zones of sandstone bodies.
