Abstract

Background: There are many questions about the influence of proprioceptive training on postural control and dynamic balance in spastic diplegic cerebral palsy children. Some studies had discussed this issue and had reached some answers, but still there are a lot of other questions that need answers. Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the effect of proprioceptive training of the trunk using a modified belt around the trunk on both sitting and standing pattern and dynamic balance in children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy. Subjects, Materials, and, Methods: Thirty children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy of both sexes (three to seven years old) participated in this study. They were divided randomly into two groups of equal number: control group (A) and study group (B). The control group received the designed physical therapy exercise program; while the study group received proprioceptive training program for the trunk using a modified trunk belt, for 25 to 30 min, in addition to the same exercise program given to the control group. Treatment was applied for three successive months for both groups
