Abstract

Canine parvovirus continues to be an important pathogen for different breeds dogs and causes severe digestive disorders, so it represents the main cause of a lot of healthy and economic problems responsible for serious occurrences of morbidity and mortality, despite the availability of safe and effective used vaccines. In the present study 40 fecal swab samples were collected from diseased dogs suffering from digestive disorders. The collected samples were tested by immunochromatography and 20 out of the 40 samples yielded positive results. The 20 positive samples were introduced for conventional PCR, 3 samples yielded positive bands in agarose gel electrophoresis. The 3 positive canine parvovirus PCR products were sent for sequencing, genetically and phylogenetically characterized and compared with the local field vaccine strain (Pfizer van guard). 2 samples were clustered to the genotype 2b and one sample was clustered to genotype 2c
