Abstract
This study investigates one of the major concepts in the field of Cognitive Linguistics which is called ―Cognitive Metaphor‖ or ―Conceptual Metaphor‖, in Sport discourse. The language of sports is a special language used in a specialized communication. It cannot be described as a variety of youth language as it includes many participants such as players, coaches and supporters and its specific texts appear in many platforms such as media whether print or electronic and social communication platforms. Conceptual metaphor is a major characteristic of language in every day communication and is highly employed in this specialized language as a result of its popularity and its limitless existence in people‘s life. The appropriate beginning is probably the discussion of what cognitive linguistics is as the background of this linguistic study.
