Abstract

The EU tends to give priority to its values such as the promotion of democracy, human rights, and law as well as the maintenance of regional security and stability. On balance, the EU opts for functional cooperation with its neighbourhood in pursuing the aforementioned goals. The EU remains an attractive partner for most of the countries in its neighbourhood, especially MENA Countries to face terrorist attacks and terrorism, especially after the terrorist threat has grown and rapidly evolved within Europe. This study examines the impact of Arab Uprising in MENA countries on European Security Cooperation in the field of counter-terrorism and to which degree the Arab Uprising and Political Disorders effect on the EU’s tools or policies of security. Thus, it examines counter-terrorism efforts by European governments with MENA Countries to tackle the factors and root causes which can lead to radicalization and recruitment in Europe.
