Abstract

S revealed high diagnostic accuracy in detecting tendo-ligamentous and soft-tissue related ankle pathologies, yet it had been less accurate in diagnosing bone-related lesions. Hence MRI still modality of choice for diagnosing bone marrow abnormalities. However, US could be used in many cases with accurate results approaching MRI. Yet occasionally superior to it. Accordingly, US should be used as a primary diagnostic tool and for follow-up of most of the tendo-ligamentous and soft tissue pathologies, and in conjugation with MRI when MRI do not fulfil clinical suspicion.
