Abstract

Egypt represents one of the earliest civilisations; its strategic location allowed it to play a role model among neighbours. Lately, this role has declined because of many problems Egypt suffered from, notably; the deterioration of the economy, the quality of education, and the poor medical services: (poverty, ignorance, and disease), the triad that could stop any development. Moreover, the increase in population, the absence of law enforcement, and the unstable political situation after the 25 January Egyptian revolution changed Egyptians’ behaviour. On the other hand, some serious efforts were exerted to change the case; for example, SEKEM in Belbeis and Tunis village in Fayoum. The spaces were recycled from depleted Sources and dying/polluted spaces to be sustainable communities providing essential needs and affordable life in harmony with the environment.
This research is concerned with human environmental behaviour and tries to record and analyse the changes in behaviour that happened either in depleted Sources spaces or dying/polluted spaces that are recycled/transformed to be sustainable green communities. The aim is a comprehensive explanation and description to discover how the transformed/recycled spaces - affect human behaviour and the degree of individuals’ interaction with those spaces. And to investigate the changes in individuals’ perceptions of their environments. The output is to map human behaviour patterns using the PEB Model to build accumulative knowledge and experience to generate tentative ideas about solving similar problems.
This research adopts both Quantitative and Qualitative methods. Starting with Collecting data from: (Literature Reviews, Site Visit Observation, Interviews with Experts and Questionnaires). Then by Analysing and Ordering data to make A Pilot Study About the behaviour pattern (The Pro-Environmental Behaviours (PEB) / Green Behaviours). The results of the analysis will lead to Re-formulate Concept and Hypothesis, then performing Empirical Research Testing of the Hypotheses and Observing the Case Studies in a Natural Setting: Depleted Sources of recycled spaces; (SEKEM, Belbeis, El Sharkey) and in Dying city recycled spaces; (Tunis village, Fayoum). Using Single Observing: (site visit), observing the behavioural patterns in recycled spaces and then Using Descriptive Studies and Quantitative Research to get the RESULTS.
