Abstract

Parallel to the globalization process in the world, air transport has become the important reliable and fastest mean of transport. Like many international industries which have long started operating in the worldwide market in liberal arrangements, the airline industry{u2019}s regulatory scene has also shifted towards liberalization. This study focuses on the commercial passengers{u2019} aviation and it examines the economic impacts of liberalizing air transport worldwide and highlights the economic impact on the Egyptian air transport. It takes turkey as a model of comparison. It analyzed the effect of liberalizing air transport on the economy through the direct, indirect and induced impacts. The interaction between air transport and economic development has been said to be a two way mutual benefit relationship by analyzing the US deregulation experience, the EU liberalization model and the Turkish liberalization experience, more efficient airlines would replace less efficient ones, unless they adopted the practices of the more efficient airlines. In the Turkish experience, it was an accelerator for all Turkish airlines including the flag carrier to adopt efficient cost saving policies with preserving high quality and best prices
