Abstract

This study investigated ethyl 3-(aryl-2-ylamino)-3-oxo-propanoate for synthesizing some new heterocyclic compounds containing thiazole and benzothiazole nuclei of structural and pharmaceutical interest. The structure and chemical composition of the constructed compounds were characterized by accurate spectral analyzes, and the results obtained can be summarized as follows:
1. Green solvents were used to prepare new chemical compounds containing thiazole and benzothiazole nuclei.
2. The results included a presentation of the prepared compounds, where the reaction of ethyl- synthesized the thiazole and benzothiazole derivatives (aryl-2-ylamino)-3-oxo-propanoate with some chemical reagents under different conditions.
3. The results were discussed by conducting the spectral analysis of the prepared compounds.
4. The biological properties of the constructed compounds were assessed as followed:
• As anticancer agents, as the results indicated that most of the compounds showed effective inhibitory activity against the varied tumor cell lines in relation to the standard doxorubicin result. Cytotoxicity results against WI38-uninfected cells indicated that most of the compounds showed moderate to non-cytotoxic effects compared to the standard anticancer.
• As antioxidant agents, twenty-seven compounds were assessed. The results showed that most of the compounds revealed potent antioxidant activities compared to the results of ascorbic acid as a standard.
• As antimicrobial agents, some specific compounds were assessed against Gram-positive bacteria (B. subtilis & S. aureus) and Gram-negative Bacteria (E. coli & P. aeruginosa). The antifungal activity of the compounds was assessed against diverse fungal strains (C. albicans and A. flavus). The results revealed that most of the compounds revealed high efficiency in inhibiting the growth of bacterial, and fungal species.
