Abstract

.
In this present investigation, the effects of the pH, adsorbent dose and initial metal ion concentrations were studied. The results generally showed an increase in percentage removal and a corresponding decrease in adsorption capacity with increase in adsorbent dosage. The biosorbent Ulva Lactuca powder and calcareous tubeworms (Hydroides Elegans). have a lot of promise for removing Cd+2 and Ni+2 ions from contaminated water. Within the first 60 minutes of interaction, the metals on the adsorbent were biosorption to the point where 75 percent of the metals were eliminated. The biosorption that best fit the Pseudo-second order model was shown to be highly dependent on parameters such as solution pH, contact time, and biosorbent dose. The results suggest that Ulva Lactuca powder and calcareous tubeworms (Hydroides Elegans) have potential application in Cd+2 and Ni+2 ions decontamination from aqueous effluents and that pretreatment further enhances biosorption.
