Abstract

Water pollution has become the most important topic that faces the whole of the world because of decreasing in different water resources. In our study we focused on the removal of different heavy metals as inorganic pollutants. Heavy metal poisoning, such as lead, cadmium, and mercury can damage or impair mental and central nervous system function, lower energy levels, and damage blood composition, lungs, kidneys, liver, and other vital organs. In the this study we use the adsorption process for the removal of different pollutants such as Pb, Cd, and Hg as a source of heavy metals using different eco-friendly bioresidues such as modified nano-cellulose that is firstly extracted from medical cotton, modified activated sugarcane bagasse carbon composites, and different Sahrawi plants. These bioresidues exhibit highly removal efficiency of such pollutant as will be obvious in the present result. These bioresidues exhibit highly removal efficiency of such pollutant. The maximum adsorption capacities of Sahrawi plants in case of Pb(II) ions reaches (76.38, 46.47, 100.68, 113.33) mg/g. In case of Pb(II) and Hg(II) ions the maximum adsorption capacities of activated carbon reaches 83.29 and 132.55 mg/g. For extracted cellulose from medical cotton, the maximum adsorption capacities in case of Pb(II) ions reaches 120 mg/g. The experimental data illustrate how the prepared adsorbents have high ability in the removal of the heavy metals under study with high efficiency.
