Abstract

This study was carried out on some Egyptian dairy farms in the areas of Giza, Fayoum, Beni Souef, El-Badrashine, Ismailia, Alexandria which contain (1200 cows, 92 buffalo) compared to a study in the Republic of Tunisia through research carried out on Tunisian dairy production farms at Safax Governorate, in the central of Tunis and north as well as northwest regions, which contain 500 cows. 1.The study on Egyptian farms was aimed the impact of environmental contamination on biosecurity and milk production compared to the situation in Republic of Tunisia through local research on Tunisian farms. 2.The various samples were collected from the afore mentioned Egyptian dairy farms which included swabs from the teat of the udder , samples from milk, air, bedding material, drinking water, swabs from milk equipment and the milke,r hands 3.To examine the presence of microbes in Egyptian dairy farms (as an important indicator of environmental contamination) and their impact on biosecurity and milk production, the following measures were carried out: 1.Determination of Total Bacterial Count (T.B.C) for air, water, bedding and milk samples and swabs from the teats of the udder, milk and equipments and the milker’s hands. 2.Isolation and identification of pathogens (E.coli, Staphylococci, streptococci) from previous samples and swabs. 3.Determination the somatic cells count (S.C.C) are counted as an important indicator for detection of subclinical mastitis.4.Calculation the average milk production in the different investigated Egyptian dairy farms. 5.Study the relationship between milk production and the application of biosecurity measures in Egyptian dairy farms. 6.Study the situation in the Republic of Tunisia through local research dealing with mastitis in the Tunisian dairy farms
