Abstract

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. It represents about (38.8%) of all types of cancer affecting female in Egypt. Postoperative pain is one of the greatest patient concerns following any surgery. Patients undergoing breast surgery require a multimodal postoperative pain treatment regimen that provides high quality analgesia with minimal side effects. The major goal in the management of postoperative pain is minimizing the dose of medications to lessen side effects while still providing adequate analgesia. This goal is best accomplished with multimodal and preemptive analgesia. The use of peripheral regional analgesic techniques as a single injection or continuous infusion can provide analgesia superior to that with systemic opioids and may even result in improvement in various outcomes
