Abstract

Team building plays a major role in the success of any institution, especially in construction projects. If the team includes members from diverse locations, it brings diversity to the team which in turn brings innovation, improves working culture, and raises the quality of product delivery. In recent time, the new breed of virtual teams has evolved in various construction organizations. Whereas the adoption of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) has brought various team members of construction projects from all over the globe together. However, managing such virtual teams working on a construction project is still a challenging task. Especially since the map of foreign investments with different nationalities is witnessing actual changes after the recent economic reform measures in Egypt, where it witnessed a large increase in the volume of foreign direct investment. Therefore, this research aims to develop a framework to manage and tackle the challenges of virtual teams in construction projects in Egypt. The findings of this research contribute to identifying all the challenges of virtual team management and studying the solutions to deal with these challenges. This research is dedicated to teams working in the construction industry to achieve the success of construction projects undertaken by virtual teams through effective communication to enhance project delivery.
