Abstract

Summary
Today, with the development of science and technology hundreds of new chemical products are being used in various industries, most of which could penetrate the atmosphere, water, soil, and contaminate them in various ways. If found their way into the human body these contaminants could leave various adverse effects most of which are harmful. Among such effects is the damage to the reproductive tissues, which could lead to infertility (Talaiekhozani, et al, 2016) .
Knowledge about fertility health issues may also help prevent infertility in the first instance; more information and advice regarding curable sexually transmitted diseases could reduce the number of cases of infertility, particularly in less developed countries where most cases of infertility are due to infection. However, there is a lack of fertility knowledge in the adolescents. The role of the nurse is to assess adolescence’s knowledge about fertility, focusing on identifying the type of information needed to educate adolescents about the potential risks for infertility (Al-Bayyari, 2017).
The study aimed to assess adolescent perception regarding fertility risk factors.
The study design was descriptive study design was used; it was conducted at five secondary schools at Matroh governorate. Data collected started from the beginning of October 2017 to March 2017. The convenient sample used, the sample was 433 adolescents (Two hundred sixty one female and one hundred seventy two male adolescent) that represents 15% of total female and male students on Matroh secondary school.
Tools of Data Collection:
Self-administered structured questionnaire sheet assesses socio-demographic characteristics of the study adolescents include age, gender, height, weight, and body mass index. Moreover, asses, medical history chronic diseases as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, and adolescents’ life style as exercises, nutrition. It has assesses knowledge regarding fertility risk factors it was adapted from Talaiekhozani et al., (2016). In addition, Likert Scale: it was adapted from Gerhard et al., (2014), it was used to assess adolescent’s attitude regarding fertility risk factors.
