Abstract

The current study integrates the results of image processing and transformation techniques on the Landsat and ASTER remote sensing data and airborne gamma-ray spectrometric data with field and petrographic investigation to discriminate the different Precambrian rock units and construct a detailed geological map for the study area, trace the various alteration zones and define the prospect of high radioactive potential and their lithology. The study area is in the North Eastern Desert, bounded with latitudes 26{u00BA}36`50`` and 26{u00BA}50`23``N and longitudes 33{u00BA}16`37`` and 33{u00BA}29`31``E. Wadi Fatirah area is accessible from the Qena-Safaga asphaltic road at km 85 east Qena city. The study area is characterized by a rugged topography due to presence of high mountains like Gabal Abu Kharif (1388m a.s.l).The area is traversed by several Wadis such as Wadi Abu Shihat, Wadi Abu Zawal (ENE-WSW)
