Abstract

Gliomas are the most common type of primary intracranial neoplasm diagnosed in adults, accounting for approximately 50% of all newly diagnosed brain tumors.Extent of resection (EOR) at initial surgery to be an important prognostic factor for overall survival. For high grade gliomas, the identification of universally applicable prognostic factors and treatment options remains a great challenge. Among the many tumor-and treatment-related parameters, only patient age and tumor histology have been identified as reliable predictors of patient prognosis, although functional status can also be statistically significant. In fact, significant advances in brain tumor imaging and intraoperative technology during the past 15 years, the effect of extent of high-grade gliomas resection increase tumor-free progression and patient survival
