Abstract

Background: A new approach for antimicrobial agentto overcome the antibiotic resistance became the point ofinterest in dentistry as the occurrence and development oforal diseases. Recently, the clinical and in vitro antibacterialeffect of human platelets concentrate (PCs) has beenreported against different species of bacteria. Objectives:This study aims to estimate the effects of low level lasertherapy on platelets rich plasma (PRP) and leukocytesagainst S. aureus and E. faecalis .Methodology: S. aureusand E. faecalis were treated with different plateletsconcentrates which were previously irradiated with 980 nmdiode laser of 1.5 j/cm2energy density. Results: PRP has asignificant antibacterial activity and might be a goodadditive for antibiotic susceptibility. As a novel impact, activated and non-activated PCs antimicrobial propertiessignificantly affected by low level laser treatment. Conclusion: irradiation of PRP by low level laser therapyattenuate its antimicrobial properties against treated GramPositive pathogen.
