Abstract

Quantifying fibre diameters has important rules for characterizing electrospun polymer. Many researchers have been used manual measurement methods, which can be time-consuming and variable. Semi-automated tools exist, but there is room for improvement. The present work used a developed new software based on visual basic code to develop an image analysis program to measure fibre diameter quickly and consistently in scanning electron micrographs. The new method was validated by using synthetic images with known fibre size and was found to be accurate.
Many computer vision applications, such as traffic management, motion analysis, pattern recognition, and robotics, still consider finding features to be a fundamental problem. The major issue is determining the most appropriate approach for describing the object.
The major goal of the present study is to investigate, analyse, and develop existing methods as well as develop new approaches for local feature detection and identification to find the efficient feature detection method. The present study will show new interesting features such as (1) a new semi-automated image analysis method using Visual basic script, and (2) compare the new method with a manual “Revolution software” and “ImageJ”, analysis technique and the semi-automated MATLAB method approach.
The present research uses fibre detection as a case study because of its importance in biological applications, such as the creation of fibre in the absence of beads, which is a good signal of antibacterial action. We will demonstrate that creating a dot-net script using a basic calculation method for processing photos is faster and more robust than the complicated computation methods utilised by others.
This study to examine combinations of the most well-known detectors and descriptors in the complicated computing. The goal of the research is to find the efficient method to extract fibre diameter as local feature in image.
So, the present work provides and describes a new method that can simply and accurately measure fibre diameters in SEM images with minimal variation.
