المستخلص

The poultry industry, especially duck breeding, is considered one of the important agricultural industries in the Arab Republic of Egypt as a whole and the Sharkia Governorate in particular due to the concentration of the duck industry in the eastern province, on the one hand the poultry industry, especially duck breeding, is considered one of the main sources of income in agricultural production in general and animal production in particular. .
It is considered one of the important pillars in achieving food security policy as it is an important source of protein, as ducks are distinguished as birds that produce meat and eggs with high efficiency, meaning that their food conversion factor is high, and they need simple care as they can be fed on household and field waste and break grain, They need less immunization, as they are highly resistant to diseases. We find that raising ducks is distinguished from raising chickens with ease for several reasons, including their endurance to environmental conditions (heat and humidity, overcoming harmful insects and worms and aquatic plants), high production capacity (production of meat - eggs - feathers - blue) and low production costs, as well as their use as pet birds.
The problem of the study is crystallized in that despite the many previous advantages of duck breeding, its high food conversion factor and its high resistance to diseases, there is a decrease in the numbers of duck breeding and the lack of interest of most of the breeders in farms and the lack of a clear mechanism by the state to pay attention to the duck production sector in the Republic as a whole and in the Eastern Governorate in particular This prompted the researcher to study the economics of some farms specialized in breeding ducks in the governorate, to enumerate the most important problems and obstacles facing the owners of these farms, and to reach the most important determinants of duck production, especially fattening ducks in Sharkia governorate, which results in increasing the demand of breeders and investors towards establishing more specialized farms. By raising ducks, and setting up a mechanism for the advancement of the duck industry and considering it a line of defense or a good alternative for the poultry production industry in Egypt.
The study aimed to study the main features of the duck production industry in Egypt in general and the eastern governorate in particular in light of the current changes. The study also aimed to identify the optimal production capacities (the maximum size of profit, the civil size of the costs and the economic efficiency) of some farms specialized in raising ducks, by studying the economics of this industry by estimating the production functions and production cost functions in order to reach the optimal use of the available production capacities, and to limit the most important problems And the obstacles it faces in defining the potential for expansion in the duck production sector, increasing the effectiveness of the growth of this production and increasing its contribution to covering the national consumption rates of poultry.
The study consisted of three chapters in addition to findings and recommendations, a summary in Arabic and another in English, in addition to the appendices and references. where the first chapter included two chapters, the first came under the title of the reference review of previous studies and research related to the subject of the study, while the second chapter included the theoretical framework for the most important concepts contained in the body of the study, and the second chapter came under the title of the current situation of domestic wealth in Egypt, while the third chapter came under the title of statistical assessment of functions Production and costs of the study sample.
