The Role of Secondary Education in Developing Social Capital to Achieve Societal Cohesion in Iraq
The current study aimed to present a suggested vision for the role that secondary education can play in developing social capital to achieve social cohesion in Iraq. This goal necessitated an analytical review of the community backer affecting the Iraqi educational system, as well as an analytical review of the literature that dealt with social capital and community cohesion, in addition to monitoring the extent to which secondary education in Iraq is interested in consolidating social capital and community cohesion in Iraq by determining the extent to which language curricula are included. Arabic and Sociology for the elements of societal cohesion and social capital, as well as monitoring the extent of social cohesion within Iraqi society and the role of secondary education in achieving it.
The study relied on the descriptive approach, and used the method of content analysis, questionnaire, and interview to achieve the objectives of the study. The study tools were built in light of the study’s theoretical framework, literature, results and recommendations of previous studies related to the subject, as well as by looking at the tools and standards that dealt with measuring Social capital and societal cohesion related to the subject of the current study, and in line with the nature of the subject, the objective of the study and the approach used to reach this goal, the questionnaire and the interview were used, as tools for collecting the necessary data for the field study as follows:
 A questionnaire to find out the availability of social capital among a sample of students in secondary education.
 A questionnaire to find out the availability of social capital among the sample of the teaching staff in secondary education.
 The interview to determine the extent of social cohesion among members of the community.
Based on the theoretical framework of the study and the results of the applied study, in addition to the findings and recommendations of other studies, the study developed a proposed vision for the role of secondary education in developing social capital to achieve social cohesion in Iraq.
