Abstract

Domestic violence is the abuse of one partner within an intimate or family relationship. It is the repeated, random and habitual use of intimidation to control a partner. Adult most often use it against their intimate partners, such as current or former spouses, sibling and offspring and vice versa.
Domestic violence is the willful intimidation, physical assault, sexual assault, and/or other abusive behavior as part of a systematic pattern of power and control perpetrated by one intimate partner against another. It includes physical violence, sexual violence, psychological violence, emotional abuse and even murder. The frequency and severity of domestic violence can vary dramatically; however, the one constant component of domestic violence is one partner’s consistent efforts to maintain power and control over the other. In many cases of family violence crimes traces of blood, semen or epithelial cells are left behind on the victim’s body, clothes ,nails in which the violence has taken place.
Swab samples can be collected as early as possible to increase the chances of identification of the person who committed the crime. And blood sample is collected from the suspected person.
DNA of the samples from the victim and the suspect is extracted, amplified and detected revealing DNA profiles which then suspected to interpretation .
Once DNA profile has been detected from the samples collected from the victim it is compared to the DNA profile of the suspect to look for a match to determine the inclusion or exclusion of the alleged offender.
The aim of this work is to mitigate the possible domestic role as a causative factor in family violence crimes.
This cross sectional laboratory based study was conducted at the Egyptian Forensic Medicine Authority (EFMA) at Sayda Zaynab. from Jan 2018 to Dec 2018 on 100 randomly chosen cases. History was taken through questionnaire and samples were tested using manual Qiagen extraction kit,Prep Filerextraction kit or Qiagen automated kit using EZ1.Extracted DNA was then quatified using Quatifiler® Human DNA Quatification kit by Step one Real Time PCR.
Samples were amplified using (AmpFlSTR ® Identifiler ® Plus) PCR Amplification Kit (Life Technologies Applied Biosystems) .Amplified PCR products were run electrophorethically on a 3130xl or 3500 Genetic Analyzer (Life Technologies Applied Biosystems).
Statistical analysis of the socio-economic parameters using IBM© SPSS© Statistics version 23 (IBM© Corp., Armonk, NY) were perfomed.
In conclosion results detected that the majority of DV crimes attending to domestic violence clinic and forensic medical lab in forensic medical authority were sexual assult (64%) then murder comes in the second degree (22%) then physical violence(16%).
It was found that the majority of victims exposed to domestic violence crimes were femles and children ,unemployed, low educational level and low income.
the majority of predators were adult male with low education level, higher frequency of unemployment
Addiction and substance abuse is linked to domestic violence in a strong way.
The variables associated with family environment, we found that family violence crimes occur mostly in families with poor educational levels, low income or unemployment.
