Abstract

loss after bariatric surgery may lead to
abdominal skin redundancy which causes disfiguring shape
for the abdomen and flanks, so in many post bariatric cases
abdominoplasty is required.
Every abdominoplasty technique has its advantages
and disadvantage especially in post bariatric patients who
suffer from many skin and shape changes in a rapid way.
Among all abdominoplasty techniques classic and high
lateral tension methods were applied in this study and
outcome, complications and patient satisfaction were
monitored to evaluate and get a proper idea about the best
technique to be done in such patients.
The main concern of HLT patients was the scar shape,
site and size which did not match their expectations about the
final shape of their bodies while the satisfaction degree was
higher in classic cases as regard the abdomen shape and the
scar issues.
The complications either early or late were almost the
same in both techniques and there was no major difference in
seroma or wound dehesince between both techniques while
Keloid formation showed more chance in HLT.Based on this study classic abdominoplasty is
recommended that HLT technique as it is more reliable,
better scar shape and more satisfactory for the patients.
